It's funny how the value of hard work, perseverance and might are so highly prized.
When you're struggling, how often do you choose to "bear down" to just get through.
What is the by-product of this?
Most often, exhaustion, self-doubt, judgement and darkness take over.
What if you were to consider going with the flow of life?
To choose to move fully, with intention, presence & compassion into meeting life with a YES!
Consider what the quality of your experience could become, if you were to take a breath and relax into what is.
Recently I have been noticing the "roots" of frustration take hold when the outcomes of my efforts do not APPEAR as I had intended.
On one level, it is important to notice and get curious.
On another level, key creativity questions open up:
- what if something else, something more enriching is starting to take shape & form?
- will I even notice if my focus is hard and locked on to ONLY the anticipated outcome?
- how else might I choose to meet the moment when what I see isn't what I had intended?
I have been experimenting with meeting those moments with a Yes!
What has been cool is, what is then getting created, isn't anything I could have imagined.
AND....the cherry on top!
I am left with a great sense ease inside.
Like the flow of an inhale and exhale, the waves rolling in & out of the shore...life is becoming rhythmic and way more interesting.
Experiment with another way of meeting unanticipated outcomes of your creations.
From the outside looking in....this may appear as "going against the grain".
Woo hoo! I say. In fact that IS what is happening.
- do I truly want to experience myself differently?
If so, then, consider what you are bringing to the party. (your internal state)
When the desire to buckle down and get "it" done;
or you feel ready to
Throw in the towel (hands in the air) & exit when you are not seeing your anticipated outcomes.....
Redirect your FOCUS of attention inside.
Notice the energetic state of your body. Name three qualities that are present (hard, tight, heavy, dull, irritating....)
Move with BREATH. Take three long, slow deep breaths (all the way down to the belly!). Soften your jaw, shoulders, relax the hand grips that may be present:) Move your physical body. Write. Pick up the phone and engage in a meaningful conversation with one of your peeps.
Soften your FOCUS.
Experiment with joining Statler & Waldorf (remember the two muppets in the balcony?), have a look at what IS present.
Choose to ALLOW yourself to be right where you're at.
Let me know how this goes.......
“To offer no resistance to life is to be in a state of grace, ease, and lightness. This state is then no longer dependent upon things being in a certain way, good or bad. It seems almost paradoxical, yet when your inner dependency on form is gone, the general conditions of your life, the outer forms, tend to improve greatly. Things, people, or conditions that you thought you needed for your happiness now come to you with no struggle or effort on your part, and you are free to enjoy and appreciate them - while they last. All those things, of course, will still pass away, cycles will come and go, but with dependency gone there is no fear of loss anymore. Life flows with ease.”
